I've discovered a new hobby to keep me busy - and I'm quite good at it!
The hobby is......................
MAKING HOME-MADE CARDS!
In one day and one afternoon, I have made five new cards!
I was inspired to to do this card-making idea by http://www.pumpkinscreativepatch.blogspot.com/ ( please visit!!!), she had absolutely lovely ideas and is v. good at crafting cards!
Firstly I made my dad a card, I made a ruffled vintage flower made of newspaper turned upside down so it looked very elegant, then I searched through my old card collection (I keep old birthday and xmas cards so I can later cut out bits for my own home-made cards) and cut out a bit of an old xmas card which had glittery trees. I think its still appropriate because its January, so I cut a tiny bit out and put it on the bottom of the card. The actual hard card the card I made for my dad was red, and I decided since I really liked making cards, why not create a little matching box to go with it? I got a nice little soap box but it was labelled 'soap' so obviously I covered it with paper, and all the sides I covered in red card to match my card. Then I popped a little present in it for my dad, and got another peice of paper, and in posh fountain pen I wrote random words, then covered the tiny peice of paper in paper wallet, and stuck it on the box - so It just decorated the box and made it look elaborate. As a final touch, I got my sticker album out and stuck a sun on the box and tied red beautiful ribbon on it. Lee (the pumpkinscreativepatch owner) did the design quite differently but I looked at her idea and added my unique twist.
2. For the next card, I did a simple but effective card for mum. I cut a border of flowers from an old valentine's day card and made it a one-side border for mine. Then, I got a huge blue heart made of plastic and glued it on (this was hard because it was 3D) and got a really cute picture of a kitten and stuck it on a red peice of paper, then stuck this on. Then on the inside of the card I tore a pink hello kitty page out of my H.K notebook and used it as an appliament on the inside of my card. Next tied a blue bow to my card and Voila!
3. Now I had done some beginner simple cards I think I was ready to start something more complicated. I got a thin, white lined peice of paper. I rushed downstairs and got a slightly wet teabag, and rubbed it on the paper. And now it looked nice and old fashioned! I used the newspaper-flower technique again, and for the middle I used a nice brown button. For the stem, I drew out a ruler on plain paper (Using a ruler meanwhile!) Then I stuck the flower on the tea-bag paper and it looked awesome. Remember, this was one thin peice of paper. So how did I make it into a card? I got card, folded it in half, and in the middle I stuck the thin paper with the flower.
I won't explain about the other 2 cards, they're too complicated! What I will do Is take some photos of the cards later.(BY 7.00 PM TONIGHT! YAAAY!)
